Focusing on producing progressive/minimal/electro and everything in between as Chris Komus, progressive and fullon psytrance under Lo Progression with a release on Sundance Records, and dubstep under the name Dink Bridge with upcoming releases on Lick The Wrap Records; his sound is versatile, eclectic, and always evolving. Having experimented with various other genres of music prior to psytrance, Chris Komus borrows from a variety of genres and infuses it into dance-floor heavy, epic, and loud rockin’ psychedelic music to melodic, groovy, techy and progressive sounds of progressive house and progressive psy, glitched out techno and minimal, wonky-assed bassline and electro, to the symphonic cinimeatic and dark brooding dubstep. With a busy schedule of gigs on the Canadian prairies, both as a Live PA act and also as a DJ act, Chris Komus is known as one of the key players in bringing psytrance and dubstep to Winnipeg. For the 2010 festival curcuit, he’s booked for Motion Notion 2010 in AB and Entheos Gathering in BC. He has opened for Infected Mushroom (Sept '07 and Mar '06), Hallucinogen (June '07), Mad Maxx (Dec '09), Deedrah (Apr '10), Treavor Moontribe (Oct '09), Nuclear Ramjet (Feb '08), and played at Connect Festival in Saskatchewan (Aug '07 & '08), and opened for minimal tech acts such as Ryan Elliot (Dec '07) and Maetrik (Apr '08) as well as dubstep acts Excision, Datsik, Vaski, and Ill.Gates in 2009. Chris Komus is also involved in pushing the psychedelic and dubstep sounds as co-promoter and resident DJ of Winnipeg Psychedelic Productions, the premier crew in Winnipeg currently promoting psychedelic trance and dubstep. History of Chris Komus With a rich background in music knowledge, Chris Komus began fully producing in the Fall of 1999 after dabbling with keyboards, piano, drums, and trumpet since the age of six. Under the moniker Lo Progression, created in September 1999, Chris Komus started by stripping samples from various songs and mod tracks, and compiling then together to create hardstyle, hardhouse, techno, house and trance using a really old Mac. Soon after, he began using an IT tracker to create the music on a PC. For the next few years he fine tuned his skills in making trance that had an increasing psychedelic influence. After a couple of years, he began using higher quality professional software, and started acquiring hardware to assist in music making. In 2004 he shifted primarily into creating psychedelic trance and IDM/Experimental. For the next three years, Lo Progression developed his skill in psytrance and IDM until breaking off into four seperate projects: Chris Komus for progressive house/progressive psy/tech house/minimal; Lo Progression for fullon psytrance; Dink Bridge for IDM/Drum & Bass; and Abominable Staircase for psybient/ambient.
